The Executive Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Chika Ibekwe has noted that the wife of the Governor ,Barr. Chioma Uzodinma has remained a solid pillar in championing the cause of women and children, especially the vulnerable and less privileged .
Hon. Ibekwe made the remark at Ngor Okpala during this year’s Children’s day celebration held at the Local government headquarters.
According to her Children are a special breed loved and destined for greatness hence she charged them to believe in their abilities, remain focused, respect their parents ,teachers, and above all never give up on their dreams
She added that the world is waiting for the beautiful light the children carry.
The chairman used the occasion to offer fervent prayer for the children and appreciated those who participated in the match past for patiently standing in the sun while the event lasted.
Earlier, while reading the address of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,she said Mr. President had charged children to speak up when bullied or harmed stressing that they will be heard and protected adding that their dreams matter, their voices matter and nobody has a right to hurt, silence, or diminish them.
She stressed that the President noted that the safety of our children cannot be anchored solely on government policies but on community vigilance hence the launching of nationwide “see something, say something, campaign” which encourages every Nigerian to become a child protector champion.
The high point of the event was the children’s match past, traditional dances and presentation of gifts to deserving schools. After the match past; Community School Orisheze, Regina Pacis primary school and Umuagi Obike Community Schools came first, second and third positions ,respectively for the primary school category ,while in the secondary school category,
Lumen Christi girls secondary school, Regina Pacis Secondary school and Ngor Okpala high school emerged first, second and third positions respectively.
In the traditional dances event, Regina Pacis primary school took first position while Community School Ngor Okpala came second position.
