Popular Nigerian influencer and social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has issued a strong warning to singer Davido and socialite Cubana Chiefpriest. He said he will end his friendship with them if they support the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 elections.
VeryDarkMan, also known as VDM, shared this warning in a video posted on his Instagram page. He reacted to the recent visit Davido and Chiefpriest made to the presidency.
While he said everyone is free to choose their preferred candidate, he made it clear that he will not tolerate any celebrity using their fame to promote a political party.
He explained that he does not want celebrities to use their influence to mislead the people, especially during hard times.
In the video, VDM said he would never stop anyone from supporting a political party. But he promised to speak out against any celebrity who openly supports APC or any party in 2027.
“I don’t have a problem with who anyone supports. But if Davido, Chiefpriest or any celebrity campaigns for APC, I will come for them,” he warned.
He believes politicians should speak directly to the people. According to him, leaders should explain their plans themselves, without hiding behind famous faces.
“Let the politician talk to the people by himself. Let him tell them what he wants to do. No celebrity should be used to do that,” he added.
VeryDarkMan said celebrities have strong influence on the public. That is why he warned them not to use their fame to mislead the masses.
He explained that many people trust and love their favourite stars. If a celebrity tells them to vote for someone, they might do it without thinking.
“Don’t deceive people to vote for a bad leader just because you were paid,” he said. “If you campaign for any politician, I will come after you.”
He added that celebrities should stay away from politics. He wants Nigerians to decide who they want to vote for, without being influenced by their favourite entertainers.
VDM and Davido have been known to be close. In fact, VDM was one of the few influencers invited to Davido’s wedding with Chioma in June 2024.
Despite their friendship, VDM made it clear that he would not hesitate to cut ties with Davido if he supports APC publicly.
“If you support APC or any politician in public, kiss our friendship goodbye,” he said.
He also said he respects people’s right to vote for whoever they want. But he insisted that no celebrity should campaign for any party.
“If you want to vote for Tinubu or any other candidate, that’s fine. Just don’t let a celebrity tell you who to vote for,” he warned.
