Age-Long Tradition Of Owerre Nchi Ise Royal Stool And Stella Neboh Njemanze’s Gibberish

By Chinedu Max Egere

Owerre Nshi Ise is one of the autonomous communities in Igbo land   that has remained robust with her cultures, traditions and customs surrounded in her Ezeship stool. Researchers from all over the World, according to reports, would not cease to find these rare factors interesting for studies and knowledge.      The cultures, traditions and customs of this ancient community as they affect her Royal stool have ever remained firm synchronizing with the strong wills and beliefs of her people in that regard.       Alien factors that are loaded with negative contents via written or oral blackmail cannot pose threats to the traditional processes towards the selection of their monarch.

Did the attempted balkanization of Owerre Nshi Ise get a safe landing in the traditional city? No! Can publications  in the media filled with twists and dramatic innuendoes  make any impact as to shift base in such a traditional setting? No! The article made by one Stella Neboh Njemanze with her title “Attention: Imo Traditional Rulers,Owerre needs no Crown Prince, but Ozuruigbo VI” is amazingly strange to the realities of the royal stool of  Owerri Nshi Ise going by facts and figures.

It appears a distracting gimmick that is obviously missing its target and within its hypothetical absurdity, not grounded with the typical dignity attached to the Owerre men and women. One may ask:Who must she be  and why is she not sounding like a Princess or like one whose community has a revered Royal stool that had historically been occupied by men of pedigree of the blessed memories? Is it that she is not grateful to God Almighty for the collectively wise choice of a retired Judge of a competent court of jurisdiction who has been reputed for his uprightness and who has been likened to the biblical Daniel? One may also ask: Why the gibberish when the voice of the people is the voice of God? More,Who is hellbent in placing the writer in a gullible and vulnerable state over the unique Royal stool? Where were her advisers when the majority of Owerre people had their time praying and fasting to have a divine replacement of the late Eze Pharm Emmanuel Emenyeonu Njemanze ,the Ozuruigbo V? Where were she and her advisers when the traditional processes were being  perfected to this last stage that is totally anchored on peace and unity? Could the whole plan and idea be to fix a pretense that crisis are brewing over the Royal seat? My take is  that these have merely become open secrets that have staggered with lots of poor reasoning unto death on arrival.

An elder, a Prince of the Njemanze Dynasty,Bob Njemanze had earlier cleared the air that one Charles Anumaku Njemanze, who investigations reveal is the younger brother of this Stella Neboh was earlier approached to be a “place holder” with regard to the stool and that  such moves did not see the light of the day, which was attributed to some factors considered to constitute a necessary hindrance ,not until Rt.Hon.Justice Eze Frederick Njemanze (rtd) got the nod of the majority of the people as the Ozuruigbo VI. So?

It further became more  disappointing that the writer,Stella Neboh with her article’s bank is only gazing at the wise people of Owerre and even at this period of endless euphoria associated with the 80th birthday anniversary of the respected Imo citizen and a prince/stake holder of the  Njemanze dynasty,Prince Bob Njemanze. People from all the quarters in the World would not cease to joyfully shower their blessings, pleasantries and all the good wishes on him, who has been noted to have monumentally stood his ground like a colossus for the Njemanze dynasty, Owerre people ,Imo people and all.

Does any one still seek an enlightenment that as it has been traditionally done, the principal members of Njemanze Royal dynasty had nominated one of their own in the person of  Rt Hon. Justice Eze Frederick Ohiri Njemanze  from where the Amawom village took him to  Oparaugo of Umuororonjo, the first  son of Owerre Nshi Ise and from there to Umuikenegbu comprising Umuororonjo and Amawom who invited Azuzi, the compromising the rest of the villages namely Umuonyeche,Umuodu and Umuoyima for his adoption. Still in line with the traditional processes, they brought him in dignity to Obiukwu Njemanze where he was adopted as the CROWN PRINCE and at completion of the traditional processes following the adoption of  five villages that the crown Prince would formally be presented to the government for the necessary recognition and political consideration as anything outside this would be a wasteful baggage.

The traditional succession of the late Eze Ozuruigbo V is  naturally placed above an  individual as it flies with a focus devoid  of any of any bidding ,lobbying or campaigning and anything similar. It is purely traditional imbibing all the cultures and customs with the backing of Christianity.

An article that is deliberately routed in inflated edification of insinuations, spewing of lies, insults and ,assumptions on a people and a release of hogwash and balderdash are not a wit, needed now or in the future as the people of  Owerre Nshi Ise have for years ,toed the line of peace and unity with respect to their royal stool.Let us all therefore  give honour to both  their Royal stool  and her people now and all the time and not to waste attempts to defile this divine arrangement in form of publication of articles like that of Stella Neboh. Long live, the great people of Owerre.                                                                   Chinedu Egere, member Nigeria Guild of Editors NGE writes from Owerri.
