The Imo state Police command has declared two male friends wanted for reportedly engaging in homosexual practice in the downtown prefab area of Aladinma housing estate in Owerri, capital city of Imo state.
The gay partners, Promise Onyebuchi and Emeka Kingsley Njoku were said to have been cohabiting in the E-square Lodge, prefab area of the estate for over two years and half until about September 16,2022 when the neighbourhood association of the estate was said to had been informed of their unnatural relationship and illicit act by their co -tenant,one Imo Frank.
Frank was reported to have had series of quarrels with Mr. Promise Onyebuchi,his neighbour and owner of the apartment at the Lodge.
The gay partners, from police information hail from Ahiazu Mbaise and Ehime Mbano LGAs , respectively.
The police report also showed that the suspects are being hunted for refusing to report to the State Criminal Investigative Department,CID of the Area Command in Owerri for several months following the complaint made by their said neighbour, Mr.Frank Imo in collaboration with the estate neighbourhood association against them for allegedly practising homosexual act while cohabiting in the area.
The release from the police which declared them wanted stated in part : “Messrs Promise Onyebuchi hails from Nneisii, Ogbe,Ahiara ,Ahiazu Mbaise LGA and Emeka Kingsley Njoku,from Umunwachukwu,Umuopara,Nsu in Ehime Mbano LGA,Imo state both are male…”
The police release further stated that Nigerian constitution frawns at any form of homosexual act, adding that various citizens’ customs and traditions abhor act of sodomy; also tagged homosexuality
Our reporter also gathered that the Police in cause of their investigation invited few of the neighbours of the suspects who are presently on the run , to ascertain their knowledge about the two male friends’ act of sodomy.
It was also revealed that the security operatives several attempts to arrest the suspects had proved abortive, hence the decision to declare them wanted.
As at Press time reports say the whereabouts of the youthful male friends have not been known since the ugly event.
