OAIC Women,  Children Hold Seminar In Imo

…Harp on Child protection

The Women and Children wing of Organization of African Instituted Churches, (OAIC), Imo State Chapter have organized a workshop and Sensitisation seminar on protection of Women and Children from Gender based violence which seems to be the order of the day in the present society.

Dwelling on the roles of Women in the present challenges facing  the society today, the Guest preacher at  the occasion, Supervising  Apostle Louis Darlington maintained that women have special roles to play in their various homes.

“A good Woman builds the home.When your home is not  going well you are responsible for that.Get closer to God.There is no prayer, he cannot answer”

He stated that the problem is that people are finding it difficult to pray, forgetting that it is only prayer that can draw them nearer to God.

Emphasising on the theme of the day,”Nearer To God” the Man of God said that any man that comes closer to God will never lack anything.

Contributing, the Chairman of the occasion,  also the Vice Chairman Christan Association of Nigeria,CAN Imo State Chapter Apostle Bethel Onumajuru maintained that Women have power to effect positive changes mostly in this present situation facing the nation.

Citing Second Samuel Chapter 20 verse 16 to 21, Apostle Onumajuru explained   how God uses women to turn things around.

He opined that a wise Woman has a role to play in the face of insecurity and encouraged women to always uphold their God given roles.

On the current political situation, the CAN Vice Chairman hinted that the State CAN chapter is in total agreement with their national body as regards to a Christain President in Nigeria come 2023, saying that it  is long overdue.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of Women and Children Department of OAIC, Mrs Chizotam Aretola expressed joy for the successful outcome of the event.

She informed that it has not been easy since the beginning of the journey twenty years ago but that despite all the difficulties that they have  become more stong  and stronger.

Mrs Aretola thanked her executives for their support and encouragement which have kept them together.

The Chairperson also said that the major part of the event is to celebrate their Women and Children and to use the occasion to sensitized people on the negative effect of Child and gender abuse.

Delivering on the lecture  “Sexual Gender Based Violence and Child abuse, the guest lecturer, Mrs Adaugo Olufumilayo Onyeji emphasised on the need for parents to be closer to their Children for them to be able to observe certain changes in their bodies.

She advised parents to make their children their friends by being open to them.

The event which took place at the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim,Owerri, witnessed special display from the Children’s wing department with some inscriptions like”We are Christian Children.Dont Abuse Us.

We are the Leaders of tommorow”.

The event was also witnessed by some Church heads from various denominations under OAIC.
