Executive Rascality: Imo Assembly Orders Dissolution Of All Land Allocations, Appointments By Okorocha Imolites Laud Action …LG Chairmen, Councilors: Suspension illegal …Say: We’re confused, embarrassed

The Rt. Hon. Chinedu Offor led Imo State House of Assembly has dissolves all the appointment made by the Immediate past administration of Rochas Ethelbert Anayo Okorocha since March after the gubernatorial elections upto May 2019.
The Assembly ordered the Chief Emeka Nkem Ihedioha new administration to revoke where necessary all lands grabbed by the past administration of Rochas with immediate effect.
It also resolved that all Heads and Boards of Parastatals and Agencies which includes IBC, OCDA, Heartland FC etc management should vacate immediately.
Meanwhile, the Chairmen and councillors the 27 Local Government Areas of the state who were slammed with indefinite suspension by the Imo State House of Assembly on Monday, June 3, 2019, have described the action as illegal and uncalled for.
The embattled council officials further argued that the illegality of the action stemmed from the fact that there was no ground upon which such action was predicted, adding that for the House to take such harsh action there should have been a complaint or petition to that effect.
Speaking to Nigeria Newspoint yesterday in Owerri one of the suspended Chairmen who spoke on condition of anonymity argued that the House being a bastion of the law, should have taken steps to properly situate it’s action in law by putting it on something, since it is trite that something can’t stand on nothing in law.
He disclosed that there is no iota of petition from anywhere against them pointing out that even if there is any such thing what the House would have done is to investigate and send report of its finding to the governor for action, adding that to the best of his knowledge no such thing happened.
Answering a question on whether they are contemplating legal action the chairman said they are still in confusion over the action of the House stressing that it is only when they get over it and meet that they can decide the next line of action.
In a related development, Imolites who have reacted to the action of indefinite suspension of the LG officials and other actions and appointments made by the ex Gov Rochas Okorocha after he lost the governorship election, described it as laudable as it will remove obstacles placed on the way of the new governor by the ex governor.
Mr Chris Akpunonu, a social critic and public affairs commentator in his reaction said the action has removed traps set by the former governor to hinder the new governor from achieving his dream of reclaiming and rebuilding the state.
Similarly, a medical practitioner in the state, Dr Perry Njoku said it was totally wrong for the governor to deliberately try to encumber his successor by indulging in a spree of appointments and other governance decisions after the general election when he had the whole of eight years to do so and praised the House for helping to make take off smooth for the governor.
