Revealed: Okorocha set to create 126 new autonomous communities …Allegedly as bait for in-law’s victory

There is a palpable tension currently pervading in Imo State as it has been revealed that a whooping new 126 autonomous communities has been planned to be created by Governor Rochas as a political bait for his house boy term son-in-law, Chief Ugwumba Uche Nwosu with a threat to scrap them after the elections in 2019 if Uche Nwosu does not win and win convincingly in them.

It will be recalled that it was just in February this year that Gov. Rochas Okorocha convened a meeting with Ndi-Eze Imo State and told them to liaise with their subjects, if any of them want to be autonomous, should apply through them, the meeting which was given heavy publicity.
Saw the Eze’s ending up in their various communities being rejected by the instruction for a new autonomous creation only for Gov. Rochas Okorocha to try to force the creation on the people just to shore up an unavailable support for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. If the Governor should go ahead with his proposed creation of the 126 new autonomous communities, added to the already existing over 300, it will tally it up to almost 500, which will be the highest in the south east states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu, which has about 70 or less autonomous communities and they are complaining of slow development as most of them are not viable enough to stand on their own not to talk of over 500 communities in Imo State for perceived political gains as this will not augur well with the already slow pace of development being recorded in some of these autonomous communities, rather than making effort to lump together some of them that are not strong and economically viable enough to stand on their own if any good thing is to be achieved in them.
