Imo Labour party guber primaries, big fraud -Osondu

A leading governorship aspirant in Imo State under the banner of the Labour party (LP), Dr. Lawrence Chukwuma Osondu has roundly, condemned what he described as unprecedented fraud and bizarre exercise that took place in the name of Labour Party governorship primaries in the state recently.
According to Dr Law Osondu, the conduct of the party’s governorship, primaries was tainted with irregularities and illegalities.
Law Osondu, an indigene of Lude Community of Ahiazu Mbaise local government area and United States of America-based medical practitioner faulted alleged imposition of option A4 (open ballot system) contrary to the use of secret ballot system originally authorized by the Labour Party for the conduct of its primaries.
He further, disclosed that the use of option A4 was a sudden arrangement between one of the governorship aspirants and representatives of the party’s national headquarters who came to conduct the primaries, adding that arrangement for the option A4 was made with the exclusion of two of the three contenders for the Labour Party governorship ticket, namely Dr. Law Osondu and Chief Tony Onyearugbulam.
Law Osondu also told news men that the decision by the electoral team from the party’s national headquarters was not communicated to two of the aspirants, Law Osondu (himself) and Tony Onyearugbulam until they arrived the venue of the primaries.
“It must be made clear that the choice and adoption of the option A4 was not communicated to us, the other two aspirants earlier before the election moment proper, yet the representatives from Abuja surprisingly insisted on going ahead with the process, despite our protest,” Dr. Osondu stated.
Law Osondu was until a couple of months ago, the president of Mbaise nation in the United States of America lamented that the list of delegates to the election was purely fraudulent as according to him, the list was doctored and names of authentic LGA executives manipulated away from the real list of officers of the party.
According to him, the delegates list should include LGA and ward chairmen, secretaries, financial secretaries, treasurers, youth leaders, women leaders and PRO.
The aggrieved LP governorship aspirant called on the party’s national headquarters to as a matter of urgency; convene another election in the shortest possible time within the period allowed by the electoral time table for primary elections.
Law Osondu also charged the national headquarters of the party to dish out appropriate sanctions to all those involved in the large scale fraud and conspiracy which made nonsense of Imo LP governorship primaries.
He categorically, affirmed that there was no election in Imo State in respect of Labour Party governorship primary election as according to him, two out of the three guber aspirants walked out of the venue of the election in anger.
This reporter gathered that three aspirants namely, Dr. Law Osondu, Chief Tony Onyearugbulam and Chief Joseph Ikechukwu Ukaegbu (Ikenga) vied for the Imo Labour Party guber ticket.
