CONFUSION, VIOLENCE MAR IMO APC PRIMARY …Gulak c’ttee declares Uzodimma winner…Nwosu: No, I won…Campaign vehicles burnt, supporters injured…NWC postpones exercise indefinitely

The governorship primary election of the APC in Imo State has turned into a warfare characterized by confusion, violence, blood, destruction, claims and counter claims from the various aspirants and camps seeking the party’s ticket.
Indeed, what played out yesterday (Tuesday) during the repeat primary exercise following the non conduct of the exercise on Monday, the first day it was scheduled to hold, was proof that the leaders of the party are prepared to spill blood as some have boasted to grab the ticket at all cost.
As at the time of going to the press the situation was still fogy and confusing as there were over four different contrasting versions to the imbroglio.
Party sources told our correspondent that the Alhaji Ahmed Gulak electoral committee which arrived Imo state Monday had visited Gov Rochas Anayo Okorocha in government house ostensibly to announce it’s arrival and readiness for the exercise had yesterday afternoon announced Sen Hope Uzodimma winner of the primary.
But, soon after the news filtered, the State Publicity Secretary of the Daniel Nwaofor led APC executive, Mr Jones Onwuasoanya issued a statement declaring Gulak missing with the electoral materials.
At the same time, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu ,another guber aspirant on the party’s platform and his camp also began claiming victory, saying the members of the committee declared him winner.
But, amid the confusion came another version of the story to the effect that the National Working Committee,NWC of the party has suspended the primary ,indefinitely.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that the acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena signed the statement announcing the postponement. It was also learnt that Lagos State exercise was also suspended indefinitely.
Earlier on Monday the exercise which was later cancelled had thrown up gory scenes of violence and destruction like the incident that happened at Amaike,Mbieri, Mbitoli LGA.
Nigeria Newspoint learnt that the burning of the campaign vehicles was as a result of a violent clash between youths allegedly loyal to Ugwumba Nwosu’s camp who came to the community to attack opponent’s of the camp
However, their expedition turned awry when youths of the community rose in unison and tried repelling them leading to the clash.
Unconfirmed reports also claimed a member of the party was shot in Isiala Mbano LGA, while clashes were reported in almost the whole state.
