Imo LGA election to hold, Aug. 25 …ISIEC Fully Prepared …No Legal Impediments Whatsoever

The long expected Imo state chairmanship and councillorship elections which have been deferred a couple of times have finally been scheduled to hold on August 25, 2018.
The decision to this effect was taken last Wednesday, July 25, 2018 during a stake holders meeting between the leadership of the Imo state Independent Electoral Commission (ISTEC) led by Hon. Ethelbert Ibebuchi and chairmen of over 40 registered political parties at the premises of ISIEC in Owerri.
During the interactive meeting, the ISIEC chairman. Hon. Ethelbert Ibebuchi informed that the state electoral umpire was fully ready with all logistics to conduct a free, fair and credible LGA elections in place, just as he informed that there were no legal impediments of any kind in the way of the LGA elections taking place as scheduled.
Hon. Ibebuchi also noted that many political parties had written his commission asking for an extension of time to enable them put their house in order and participate in the LGA elections, prompting ISIEC to convene the stakeholders meeting to address the issue.
Most of the party chairmen could not hide their excitement at this and applauded ISIEC for her efforts to conduct an all inclusive LGA elections, declaring their support for a new date which the stakeholders agreed should be at least a month from now so as to accommodate all the processes required by law.
Furthermore, the ISIEC chairman. Hon. Ethelbert Ibebuchi observed that the LGA elections were for the progress and development of the state and anyone against it could only be against the best interest of Imolites.
He warned party chairmen there would be no further extension of time as an excuses whatsoever would be entertained
