Convention Latest: Imo APC Coalition rejects Izunaso’s defeat …Alleges: Election was rigged …Appeals Ibediro’s victory

Not satisfied with the circumstances that led to the loss of the position of national organizing secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, by Senator Osita Izunaso at the just concluded convention of the party in Abuja, Imo APC stakeholders forum has alleged that there was a deliberate scheme to stop Izunaso by the chairman of the convention, Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa state.
In a press statement signed by Chief T.O.E Ekechi, Mazi Okay Ikoro and Barr. Kingsley Ononuju all members of the coalition, the group alleged that the convention committee chairman and governor of Jigawa State, Badaru colluded with Governor Okorocha in ensuring that votes from South East states like Anambra, Abia and Imo were not collated since according to them, these states had earlier endorsed the candidature of Senator Izunaso as South East APC candidate for the office of national organizing secretary.
Imo APC coalition further, disclosed that only 30 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja where collated for the national organizing secretary position out of the 36 states that attended the convention. The coalition gave details of the states were votes were not collated to include; Akwa Ibom (217), Anambra (161), Abia (152), Adamawa (208), Imo (226) and Jigawa (282), totaling 1,246 votes.
The statement further disclosed: “In the case of Jigawa State, the convention chairman’s own state, the ballot papers for the office of the national organizing secretary were curiously missing.
Continuing, Imo APC coalition alleged: “In the of Akwa Ibom and Adamawa states, exit polls indicated also that they voted overwhelmingly for Senator Izunaso. Intelligence information reveals that the ballot papers for Jigawa for the national organizing secretary had been pre-marked (pre-thumb printed) but could not be stuffed at last minute as planned because of failure of strategy”.
The collation maintained that the result would have been different but for the alleged bias exhibited by Governor Badaru adding that the convention chairman allegedly announced that he reached a consensus with Senator Izunaso and Governor Okorocha that Imo delegates would not be voting only for them to find out from Izunaso that it was not true even as they disclosed that Badaru refused to rescind that announcement when he was confronted.
The coalition therefore demanded that for the sake of fairness, equity, peace and justice, the 1,246 votes of affected states must be counted to get the real result.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Newspoint reliably gathered that Senator Osita Izunaso has appealed against the declaration of Barr.  Emma Ibediro as the winner of the position of the party’s national organizing secretary citing manipulation of results and other irregularities.
