An Owerri High Court, in the Owerri Judicial Division presided over by Hon Justice K. A Ojiako has sentenced Chief Ralph Uwazuruike leader of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra MASSOB and Biafra Independent Movement BIM, to one month in prison for contempt of court.
Making the order Hon Ojiako said he was convinced by compelling evidence available to him following a motion on notice filed seeking Uwazuruike’s committal to prison for disobedience to lawful order of the court that he (Uwazuruike should be imprisoned.
According to the learned judge Chief Uwazuruike who incidentally is the plaintiff in the matter before the court would spend one month in prison.
He also ordered that Uwazuruike by himself, his servants, agents, privies or any other person through him have been stopped from entering into the said land which is the subject matter in contention pending the determination of the matter.
The court also adjourned hearing on the substantive matter to 10 of July 2018 to await the outcome of the motion for stay of proceedings.
