Ohaji/Egbema lawmaker -Orie, slaps journalist

The Imo State House of Assembly member representing Ohaji/Egbema state constituency,   Hon Emma Orie,   yesterday   assaulted a journalist at the All Progressives Congress, APC State Secretariat at Okigwe Road.  The incident happened right inside the office of the APC Secretary.

The journalist Destiny Tsinwa, staff of Daily Nigerian Horn who hails from the same Constituency with the legislator narrated that on sighting the law maker he walked up to greet him as his representative in the legislature as a mark of respect..

The law maker instantly charged at him saying, “this is the opportunity I have been waiting, you have been working against me, insulting me”. He followed this with a slap on his face to the embarrassment of the journalist and all on-lookers present.

He further threatened to deal with the journalist as he picked his phone to start making calls. When the media man was queried if there was any previous incident between him and his representative, he denied knowledge of any.

However, he admitted working for him in the 2015 election believing that he would deliver democratic dividends to his people but now backed out of him when the reverse was the case.

He was promptly chased out of the office by the APC party officials who condemned his actions. The journalist had since reported the matter with the Police. It was not readily established if the law maker was under the influence of alcohol or any form of narcotics to warrant the actions.
