Imo Governoship: If God wishes, I’ll succeed Okorocha – Samdaddy …Empowers 105 Imolites with cash, tools

Senator Samuel Anyanwu who has thrown his hat into the ring in readiness for the PDP guber ticket duel has hinged his hope of succeeding Gov Rochas Okorocha, on God.

Senator Anyanwu who spoke on his guber ambition in his Owerri office weekend while distributing empowerment tools and start up cash of N50 thousand to 105 beneficiaries of his skills training on fashion designing further posited that he choose to hope in God because only Him gives power.

The chairman of the Senate committee on Ethics and Privileges who obviously was trying to make it clear that his empowerment has nothing to do with his governorship aspiration informed his audience that the initiative is in keeping with his convenant with God.

According to him he has a long standing convenant with God and in line with this he makes sure he touches a life everyday of his life.

He said : “I want to tell you this empowerment is not because of politics. It is not. The truth is that even if all of you beneficiaries vote against me if it is God’s wish I will still be governor. I have a covenant with God to touch life everyday and that is what am doing ”

He expressed worry that the present generation of youths in the state are taking the issue of skills acquisition seriously pointing out that the tendency is encouraging capital flight from the state.

Senator Anyanwu maintained that the era of depending on white collar jobs after school or graduation has gone and urged youths to help themselves by learning a skill or another for their survival.

He charged the beneficiaries to put the skills they have learnt to good use as well as make judicious use of the tools and cash given stressing that with prudent and diligent management of the cash given them they could lay foundation for a bright future.

He added trainees in other skills such aluminum fixing, cosmetology, and driving would also be likewise assisted to establish their own businesses.

Speaking also, Rev Fr Dr Gerald Njoku, of the Justice Development and Peace Commission / Caritas /You Care of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri lauded the senator for embarking on a project he described as critical to fighting joblessness among the youths.

He said empowering youths is an issue his office is seriously committed to and working hard to ensure elected leaders and well to do individuals buy into because of many positive multiplier effects.
