PDP ticket: Samdaddy vows to challenge Ihedioha

In a move that has kept thousands of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faithful in Imo State guessing, the senator representing Imo East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Samuel Anyanwu will today, formally declare his intention to contest the 2019 governorship ticket.
Senator Anyanwu’s decision to abandon his second term ambition to the Senate in favour of Imo governorship seat, is expected to change the narratives in the fight for who will emerge standard bearer of the PDP in Imo State ahead of the 2019 elections.
This is so in view of the general belief that the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha had virtually pocketed the party’s gubernatorial ticket since the Supreme Court sacked Ali Modu Sherif as national chairman of the party.
There is a school of thought that holds the view that Senator Anyanwu (Samdaddy) was only using his foray into the race for Imo PDP governorship to checkmate Ihedioha based on a wide speculation that Ihedioha has been prompting Hon. Ezenwa Onyewuchi representing Owerri Federal Consituency, to run for Imo East Senatorial seat with the intention to stop Samdaddy from being re-elected in 2019.
Political relationship between the two heavyweights is believed to have gone sour following their different roles in the Sherif versus Ahmed Makarfi saga over the chairmanship of the PDP between 2016 and part of 2017.  Both Ihedioha and Onyewuchi supported the victorious Makarfi led faction during the struggle for the sole of the party last year.
