
…KOK: It’s symbolic, historic complex that will propel Mbaise to greater heights
A ground breaking ceremony with all the trappings of a historic, symbolic and signigicance of epoch as well as defining highlight for a better future, took place on January 5,2026, at Ogbe, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State. Former governor, His Excellency, The Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, Omenkeahuruanya, the Catholic bishop of Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, member representing Ahiazu, Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, The Rt Hon Emeka Chinedu, as well as foremost actor, Bar Kanayo O. Kanayo, among others, attended the colourful event.

It was the Mbaise Connect Global Initiative’s (MCGI) resolved idea of errecting what it calls “Secretariat/ Signature Project. The MCGI unveiled its resource official secretariat and what it is all about.
In his welcome address, the president of the association, Hon Waya Ejerenwa, made it known that “MCGI is a community – driven, non – governmental organization dedicated to advancing positive development across the Mbaise nation and Imo State at large”.
The MCGI president echoed it to high heavens that the organization was “Founded on the principle of unity, service, and social transformation, bringing together indigenes of Mbaise from around the world to champion sustainable growth and improve the quality of life in the communities”.

Ejerenwa noted that from the start, ” We chose to complement government efforts by pursuing sustainable development initiatives aligned with global priorities and tailored to our community’s needs, including education, poverty alleviation, health, clean water, infrastructure, innovation, and gender equlity”.

The vice president, Engr Tony Okeahialam, informed journalists that the MCGI stood on unity, equity and progress. According to him, “We have been doing our best in providing quality services to our Mbaise people. For instance, we had in the past reactivated some of the collapsed community health centres across the three Local Government Areas of Mbaise. And, currently, we commissioned solar powered water projects in two communities of Owutu in Aboh Mbaise and Eziudo in Ezinihitte”.

The general secretary, Chief Tony Nwaru, described the January 5, 2026 as a “groundbreaking ceremony that would bring development and growth to Mbaise youths and the general good of the people”.

Kanayo who participated in the foundation laying ceremony commended the members of MCGI for their vision and mission in establishing the signature complex which he drscribed as historic and symbolic as it would propel Mbaise to greater heights.
