The Imo state chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has reconstituted its State Executive Committee, as Rt.Hon.(Amb) Membis Ochichichukwu, who was the party zonal youth leader in Orlu zone emerged as the State Organising Secretary.
The party’s congress held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the party’s Secretariat located at 190 Wetheral Road, Owerri, produced a 30-member executive through a consensus process adopted by delegates from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Other members of the newly elected state executive include; the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Hon. Emeka Ibe, who presided over the exercise, introduced accredited delegates and announced that the party would adopt consensus voting, in line with NNPP’s constitution.
The motion for consensus was moved by Mr. Anthony Opara and seconded by Mr. Ike Sunday, after which delegates unanimously approved it, even as Mr.Ibe subsequently announced the new executive members and administered the oath of office.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to monitor the congress.
The monitoring team was led by Dr. Nneka Ogochukwu Eluogu, HOD/EPM, INEC Owerri, accompanied by Uzoamaka Rosemary,who supervised the process to ensure compliance with the party constitution and the Electoral Act.
