A Socio-political and economic youth-interest group in Imo state based in Owerri geo-political zone,the’Owerri Zone Progressive Forum’, OZOPROF,has braced up to attract desirable Socio-political and economic development,as well as break the barriers of prolonged marginalisation of the zone in the awaited 2027 General Elections and beyond.
A statement jointly signed by the Co-ordinators of the group,Comr.Chinonso Okere and Pastor Ejinkonye Tobechukwu, which was made available to journalists in Owerri, stated that the objectives of OZOPROF include;empowering and equipping Owerri zone youths with credible information on available and profitable skills, knowledge and opportunities to drive economic growth and development in the zone, and also to encourage them to participate in governance,politics and decision-making process in Owerri zone,Imo state and Nigeria.
The statement further informed that the forum was set in motion to advocate and champion youths’ interest, address challenges, and promote policies beneficial to the youths in Owerri zone,Imo state and Nigeria at large, adding that it provides a veritable platform for the training and mentorship of the youths in Owerri zone,in order to develop their leadership skills,as well as support them in enterpreurship innovation, and job creation initiatives in Owerri zone.
According to the statement, OZOPROF was also established to advocate for quality education and skills development opportunities for the youths of Owerri zone, tackle and consistently sensitize the youths in Owerri zone against indulging in social vices,such as drug abuse,cultism, among other vices affecting Nigerian youths, even as it is aimed at collaborating with government agencies,NGOs and other stakeholders to achieve youth development goals in Owerri zone.
