Ohanaeze Leader, Mbata, Demands Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, Urges Igbos to Register

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, has urged the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, stressing that his continued detention serves no meaningful purpose.

In a statement, Mbata said:

“I would like to call upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to quickly release Nnamdi Kanu. The government has no serious advantage in keeping him. It is important that the government ensures his safety and welfare.”

The Ohanaeze leader in a video released on Thursday, also emphasized the need for urgent medical care and a political solution to the lingering case.

“The government must allow him to go and get medical treatment as quickly as possible. The government must adopt a political solution to this situation. I do not believe that the government has any serious advantage in keeping him any further,” he added.

Mbata equally used the occasion to rally Igbos across the country to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as a critical civic responsibility.

“I am calling upon all Igbos, wherever you are in Nigeria, to quickly take advantage of the voter registration exercise that is going on right now.Ejikweneya gwuo egwu(don’t joke with it); go and get your card as quickly as possible,” he urged.

He concluded by thanking Nigerians for their attention and reiterating Ohanaeze’s commitment to justice, peace, and inclusive governance.
