REJOINDER :  ONUKOGU FAMILY SHOULD SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS AND LEAVE “PRINCE” DR ALEX MBATA ALONE.

We are not bothered by the Rantings of a confused and drowning man, Mr Alex Mbata, who has been fouling the air with falsehood, using a hired goon, one Mike Nwachukwu, from a neighbouring Umuokpaa Egbelu Obube community. The helplessness of this drowning man can be better understood from the book of Galatians 2:20, which says : “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”.

Only when we spiritually grow to the state or condition where we abide in Christ and Christ, in turn, abides in us will we experience “inner rest” ; and we will stop to please God by our own deeds.

A drowning man can be saved only after he gives up all efforts to save himself. If not, the person who is trying to rescue and the one drowning will be all together immersed in water.

When you try to preach, minister, obey the Word or do good, depending on your flesh ; you are equivalent to a drowning person. But when you reach a state or condition of brokenness, realizing that it is not possible to please God, minister the Word, heal the sick with our flesh or do good, that is when the Holy Spirit takes over and allows you to float in His transforming power, giving you a great spiritual freedom! Hallelujah!  Unfortunately, Alex Mbata has not allowed the Holy Spirit to steer his life, hence he has been using Ngwoma Obube community to test run how he intends to lead if he is given the opportunity, either as a Senator or as a Governor in our dear state, Imo. But God forbid. Tufiakwa!.

We are not in anyway intimidated or frightened by Alex Mbata’s continued tyrannical threats and activities in our community. But because many of us are global citizens, as we reside in different parts of the world, contributing to Global, African, National, State and indeed, Ngwoma Obube community development and needs, we have no time for frivolities, obscenities and inanities. The biggest threat, therefore, to Alex Mbata’s plot to impose his unaccepted and dead-on-arrival wish in Ngwoma Obube is the very large population of self-sufficient people in our community. Hence, the majority of Ngwoma Obube indigenes are not  supporting his delusions and insipid fantasies, as he has resorted to the use of unrestrained access to power (use of security operatives, cultists and thugs) to repress and oppress our community, including attempting to usurp the Authority of the Hereditary throne of the Onukogu Royal Family. Mind you, Alex Mbata did pave the main road from Ulakwo, but he distributes Government palliatives as if they were from his own pockets without giving credit to the government thus attempting to deceive the community.

Our attention has been drawn to a publication, in several local newspapers in Imo State on Monday, September 1, 2025, with the above title. It was a sponsored publication by Mr Alex Mbata, who used one Mike Nwachukwu, from Umuokpaa Egbelu Obube Autonomous Community, a neighbouring community to our own Ngwoma Obube.

Ordinarily, we would not have bothered one bit to react to the brazen lies, blackmails, intimidations, distortion of historical facts, etc, as was contained in the publication. This is because we have rightfully submitted our petitions to the Imo State Government, at the appropriate quarters.  Also, we ensured our vision-driven Governor and the good people of Imo State are following up on the unbridled crisis being sponsored by Alex Mbata, due to his inordinate ambition in the community.

Nevertheless, since we know the characters of both Alex Mbata and Mike Nwachukwu, and their collaborating lifestyle of hoodwinking people into buying into their negatives schemes, we have decided to react, so that our God-given Governor and the good people of Imo State would not be deceived.

First, who is Mike Nwachukwu and why is he collaborating with Alex Mbata to fight the people of Ngwoma Obube community, in general and the Onukogu Royal Family, in particular?

Mike Nwachukwu was once a banker. He  reportedly worked with  Fortune International Bank Plc . That was in 2002. Since then, he has remained jobless and  he joined partisan politics.

One of his victims, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2019 Governorship election, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, reportedly gave him the sum of N100,000,000 for election activities of that year. He allegedly never deplored it for the purpose it was meant for. When Araraume later found out, the Senator reportedly mandated him to return the money or he would face the consequences. That was how Mike Nwachukwu reportedly have to pay back part of the money. He is still owing a huge balance. Senator Araraume is alive.

It should be noted here that one of the reasons why Mike Nwachukwu is fighting the Onukogu Royal Family and the people of Ngwoma Obube is because his own father wanted to contest for the Ezeship after the death of Eze S. E. Onukogu, the father of Eze Dr. A. I. Onukogu in 1979, but then declined. Years after Mike Nwachukwu’s father decided against challenging the Onukogu Family,  Egbelu Obube pulled out and claimed Autonomous. Worthy to note here that the traditional ruler of Egbelu Obube allegedly has no House or Palace of his own in his community. He operates from a certain house behind ShopRite at Egbu community in Owerri-North Local Government Area of Imo State.

On Alex Mbata, we will state here that he has never been a Prince, and there is no Princely lineage in his family. Neither does he  allegedly has any known University Education to answer Dr. Yet, he goes about with the title Prince Dr. Alex Mbata. Why is he misrepresenting himself? Why is he deceiving the public?Who is Alex Mbata?

To open the Pandora box, so that the public will understand and know that what we are saying about Alex Mbata is true, we will move from the ones the public know to the ones Ngwoma Obube community know, and it will not end in this Rejoinder :

1. A NonGovernmental Organization, Every Child Education Advancement Foundation (ECEAF), had in June 2022 petitioned the Inspector General Of Police, exposing and gave information on the White paper on the Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) that allegedly indicted the former Pro-Chancellor of the University, Alex Mbata, who was mentioned in the Prof Chinedu Nebo’s Visitation Panel report (2012 – 2019).

ECEAF reputed for its advocacy for the promotion of quality Education in Nigeria stated in its petition entitled : “The indictment of Prince Alex Mbata by the recently published White paper by their lawyer, N.O Chukwuezi and Co said: “We are solicitors to the Incorporated Trustees of Every Child Education and Advancement Foundation (ECEAF) of No. 47 Okigwe Road, Owerri, Imo State who we shall hereinafter refer to as ‘our clients’ and on whose mandate and instructions we write you this letter.

“Our instruction shows that Prince Alex Mbata was the Pro-Chancellor of Imo State University sometime ago under the administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha. At the end of his tenure as Pro-Chancellor, a Visitation Panel was set up to investigate the affairs of the University under him as the then Chairman of the University’s Governing Council. After the conclusion of the Panel’s work, Imo State government accepted its report and published the same on its White paper of 28th July, 2020. In the said Whitepaper, Prince Alex Mbata was indicted for unilaterally changing and replacing the consultants for the University’s TETFUND projects from Three-Dimensions (3-D) to Mayfair Projects Ltd, Abuja without approval and contrary to laid-down procedures by TETFUND, and which change of consultants impeded the project evaluation for earned certificates.”

The White paper in paragraph 5.1 entitled “Abandoned Building Contracts stated: “The abandoned building projects have been a source of worry and embarrassment to Imo State University and Imo State government, and people as a whole. The abandoned buildings are made up of three numbers of TETFUND Intervention projects, namely; Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education Annex Building Projects; and two numbers of NEEDS Assessment Projects, made up of the New Main Library and the Medical Centre Buildings.

“Contractor mobilized to site on Monday, 13 January 2015, but commenced work in the last week of March, 2015 due to difficulty in getting occupants of the buildings on the site to vacate.

“By 16 June 2015, the contractor had started having problems with the delayed release and payments of his earned certificates. Between 16 June 2015 and up till 14 October 2015, Arisa Adifice and other contractors of identified TETFUND abandoned projects made four joint requests (16 June 2015, 24 August 2015, 3 September 2015 and October 2015) for payments of earned certificates without success. By December 2017, the contractor abandoned the project.”

“It also noted the need for the provision of a conducive environment for teaching and learning especially in the Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education Annexes, building and others that were also abandoned, adding that “three dimensions (3-D) consultant was engaged at the inception of the contract, but due to reasons best known to the then Chairman of Council, Prince Alex Mbata, who it was alleged replaced 3-D Consultant with Mayfair Projects Ltd, contrary to laid down procedures by TETFUND. It was alleged that the Chairman of Council insisted on citing the vouchers and the cheques before approval for payment. All of the above issues impacted negatively on the execution of the project”.

“The resulting delays in both raising and payments of earned certificates severely retarded the construction work and made the completion date unattainable.

“It is advisable that these projects be completed to add to the university in its teaching, learning and research programmes, and to be in good standing with Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant regulatory bodies for accreditation of courses.”

Note : The Above can be found on Google. Yes, it is true.

2. During the funeral of a late cabinet member of the late Eze Dr. Andrew Igbozuruike Onukogu in March 2024,  Alex Mbata allegedly insulted some cabinet members by demanding to know who made them Nzes and Chiefs. He told them if they weren’t careful, that he would call some youths over and forcefully remove their traditional ornaments.

3. When his brother’s term as President General of our Town Union,  expired in December 2023, he wanted his brother to remain the PG against the Rotational agreement that ushered in his brother. When the people of Ngwoma decided to install a New President General on March 31, 2024, Alex Mbata brought Police vehicles at Ngwoma to prevent a new PG from being installed. He reportedly even gave a list of Eze’s Cabinet Members to the DSS and Anti Kidnapping Squad and framed them up as sponsors of insecurity.

4. When the Board of Trustees of the Ngwoma Town Union assembled a list of 40 Stakeholders from Ngwoma to find a way around the impasse and the committee decided to install the new PG, Ephraim Anuforo, on August 10, 2024,  Alex Mbata again used security forces to stop that exercise.

5. Alex Mbata even sued his community to court to prevent them from installing a PG until Eze Onukogu had been mourned for one year.

6. On April 27, 2025, while the memorial service of our late Eze was ongoing, Alex Mbata assembled his village people in his private compound and singlehandedly presented Chinedu Ekeocha as the new Eze. He told those in attendance that if it becomes difficult, he would go directly to Governor Hope Uzodimma and get the Staff of Office.

7. On the 30th of July 2025, while preparation was being made to welcome the Crown Prince from his overseas trip, Alex Mbata used the six Police special squad teams to barricade the premises of every Onukogu family compound including the Palace and denied everyone entry into their houses. He even used a petrol tanker to block the access to Prof B. I Onukogu. As if that was not enough, his Police teams allegedly  supervised by the Agbala DPO went to Prof Onukogu’s private compound and tear gassed him together with the women and children that were around to welcome the Crown Prince. Alex blocked the roads leading to Ngwoma from Ulakwo and Egbelu with NDDC caterpillars, under the pretence that he was doing road project for “his people”.

Now, to the truth of Alex Mbata’s inordinate ambition. Does he want to be the Traditional Ruler of Ngwoma Obube, by hook and crooked means? Is that why he has been parading himself as a “Prince”, which He is not. Just imagine.!

To carry out this unachievable plot, he reportedly recruited an imposter, Chinedu Ekeocha, to be his Place Holder Eze. Chinedu Ekeocha is from his village of Amafor. Perhaps, his idea is that if his perceived Senate and Governorship Ambitions crumbles after the 2027 General election, he would return home and have Chinedu Ekeocha (his Place Holder Traditional Ruler) stepdown, while he coronates himself the New Eze).

This is the summary of the crisis in Ngwoma Obube.

Alex Mbata allegedly has no political value ; in Ngwoma Obube, Owerri-North, Owerri Federal Constituency, Owerri Zone or in the larger Imo State. Despite his unexplained wealth and influence, he scored less than 16,000 votes in the entire Owerri Zone of 9 Local Government Areas in the Senate election of 2023, where he was a candidate for the ruling party. But the House of Assembly candidate for Owerri-North State Constituency in the 2023 scored more than 16,000 votes in Owerri-North Local Government Area. Go and verify.

Our Darling Governor scored more than 16,000 votes in Owerri-North Local Government Area during the November 2023 Governorship election. Go and verify.

Alex Mbata is a nobody, and we have decided to unmask him. But before then, we are assuring His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, our pragmatic and ever performing Governor that we love him and we are ever committed to continue to support his purpose-driven leadership. And when the time comes to support whosoever he endorses for Owerri Zone Senate seat and Governorship in 2027, he should 100 percent count on us from Ngwoma Obube for support, so long such person is not Alex Mbata.

As the watchdog of the State Government at the community level, we, the Eze-In-Council Members will continue to uphold, protect and defend, to the last drop of our blood, the excellent virtues of the Shared Prosperity Leadership in Imo State.

To the Imo State general public, we urge them to continue to support the Administration of our Governor.
