A Human Rights organization, Stand For Humanity Foundation has condemned the Thursday night provocative and barbaric killing of armless people in three communities of Umualoma, Ndiakunwanta and Ndiejezie Arondizogu in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that three yet-to-be-identified men wielding guns riding on a motorbike opened fire and killed people indiscriminately in the areas.
The victims were reportedly shop owners and their customers, others were enjoying their night life in the cosy night breeze only to be badly mauled .
The incident was reported to have happened between 10pm and 11pm, respectively on the said date.
In a statement last Friday in Owerri, the state Capital, the founder of the Foundation, Chidiebube Okeoma, described the massacre as reprehensible, wicked, anti- human, provocative, barbaric and unacceptable.
Okeoma, while consoling the families of the victims called for an end to the incessant killings and attacks on innocent people in the state and in the South East region in general.
The Foundation called on the State Commissioner of police, CP Aboki Danjuma and heads of other security agents to apprehend the fleeing killers and speedily end the insecurity ravaging the state.
The statement read in part: ” our organization, Stand For Humanity Foundation, condnems in strong terms the Thursday night’s senseless attacks in some communities in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State which resulted in the death of unarmed indigenes of the areas.
“The last night’s massacre is another reminder about our lost values and no respect and dignity for human lives.
“We condemn the Ideato massacre and demand the immediate arrest of the suspects and their prosecution. We must support legal institutions in their quest to return sanity in our society. There is no justification for wanton killing of people.
“Let those who are aggrieved channel their grievances to the appreciate channels for proper resolutions. We can’t continue to arbitrarily kill people. Enough of these barbaric acts.”,the release concluded.
