Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state, has set-up a committee to oversee transparent and inclusiveness in the distribution of fertilizer for the 2025 farming season.
The committee was to also ensure equitable distribution of fertilizer to farmers across the state.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives, while other members include key stakeholders drawn from various sectors of government, civil society, and security agencies.
Other members of the committee are: Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Special Adviser on Agriculture and Farmer-Herder Coordination, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Yakubu Usman.
Among the committee members are: Representative of Civil Society Organizations, Representative of People with Disabilities, Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Gombe State Chapter, Representative of the Nigeria Police Force, Representative of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Representative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
While the Director of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture is to serve as the Secretary.
According to the SSG said the establishment of this committee is in line with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to transparency and ensuring that all eligible farmers across the state have access to necessary inputs in the farming season.
