Extremely worried by what it described as complete absence of constituency engagements, Legislative incompetence,overreach and abuse of oversight functions, complicity in community conflicts,promotion of internal wrangling within the leadership of the APC in Mbaitoli LGA, among others,a group under the aegis of ‘Concerned Mbaitoli LGA Stakeholders’,has called for immediate recall of the member representing Mbaitoli state-constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly,Hon.Innocent Ikpamezie.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Owerri,signed by Chief Stanley Iheanacho (Convener) with phone number;,Hon.Jude Onyeanu (Secretary,Mr.Celestine Ejiogu, and Hon.Chidi Ibezimako, the group informed that, with deep sense of responsibility and regret,the members demand the recall of Hon.Ikpamezie from the IMHA.
According to the statement,Hon.Innocent Ikpamezie was elected during the 2023 general elections, and was sworn into office in June,2023, adding that under two years of his representation,his tenure has been marked by gross under performance,abuse of office, and divisive leadership,all of which have led to serious setbacks in the development of the constituency.
Particularly emphasizing that,in his bid to assert dominance in Mbaitoli politics,the group allegedly accused Hon.Ikpamezie of sowing division within the Local Government’s APC leadership by pitting the vice chairman against the Chairman of the party,Hon.Chinonye Agogbuo,as well as instigating conflict between party stakeholders.
The group also accused the Mbaitoli-state lawmaker of deliberate sabotage of Local Government unity by creating rifts among local government functionaries,thereby fueling disunity between the executive and legislative arms of the Council, together with backbiting and political witch-hunting.
The group, however demanded his recall in view of afore-stated reasons, adding that their claims are supported by verifiable facts and credible testimonies from across the constituency, even as the group also hinted that its members can no longer remain silent while integrity of their representation is being undermined, and Mbaitoli local government destroyed.
