…Osigwe:We’ll surpass enrollment target.
The Executive Chairman of Owerri West LGA, Hon Victor Osigwe, has formally flagged off the Imo Health Insurance Scheme (IHIS).
Speaking at the flagging off ceremony, Hon Osigwe described the scheme as a well-thought out Health Insurance Scheme of the Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration.
The LGA Executive Chairman, now easily known as
“the Swift Messenger of the SHARED PROSPERITY government”, was optimistic that the people of Owerri West would surpass the enrollment target given the boisterous and unprecedented turnout at the Umuguma Health Center and its environs.
He eulogized the Governor for his people-oriented door step health programmes stating that such gestures portray the fact that the Uzodinma-led government meant well for the people.
The Council Boss further told the people that the Governor and the Council have taken care of the payments and all the people needed do was to avail themselves with the enrollment opportunity into the scheme without paying a dime and announced that the team from the Imo State Health Insurance Agency charged with the enrollment would move into the Communities in Owerri West LGA for the assignment through the help of the Councillors.
According to the Executive Chairman, ” the enrollment of a hundred thousand residents in Owerri West LGA can be surpassed given the aggressive sensitization, mobilization and awareness we have given the program. I therefore enjoin every resident in the LGA, including the pregnant women, young or old, to take advantage of this scheme which total bill irrespective of the issue at stake have been taken care of”.
The flag off ceremony commenced with a powerful Praise and Worship session led by Lolo Okpo after which Mr Pius Onyinyechi of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency and the Owerri West HoD for health later took time to talk extensively on the benefits of the scheme in a language that made sense to the people.There was also a ‘Question and Answer’ session which gave the ceremony an interactive touch.
Highlight on the occasion was the enrollment of Executive Chairman, Hon Victor Osigwe(Ikeoha) into the scheme just as a highly respected Community leader in Umuguma, Nze At hand Okpo gave a testimony that when he was referred to a hospital through this scheme,he never paid a dine.
The Secretary of the Local government, Sir Fidel Onyeneke, the Councilors led by their leader, Hon Victor Olekaibe, the Supervisors, appointees of the Executive Chairman, Security Agents and the Council Management were all present at the flag off ceremony
