Take Advantage Of Govt’s Health Programmes, Vaccinations, Obinna Obi-Njoku tells Ikeduru People

…Hails Imo First Lady

A medical practitioner and the founder of Obinna Obi-Njoku Foundation, Dr Obinna Obi-Njoku Jr, has urged the people of Ikeduru state constituency to key into state government’s health programmes for improved healthcare.

Dr Obi-Njoku Jr spoke on the heels of the recent flag off of the statewide awareness campaign for the promotion of immunisation against  measles, rubella, tuberculosis (TB), among other diseases,  by the Imo First Lady, Barr Chioma Uzodinma.

Dr Obi-Njoku Jr who commended the wife of the governor for her effort, highlighted the importance of  healthcare provision to include prevention and treatment, which according to him, help to prevent and treat illnesses, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality rates.

He emphasised that illnesses and death rates would reduce drastically with increased citizens’ awareness and active participation in government’s health programmes, especially vaccinations.

“I commend the effort of The Imo First Lady in this regard. Healthcare programmes such as these are very important because they help citizens lead healthier and more productive lives.

“When we have a healthy population of citizens with access to healthcare, the more productive our people will be.

“More important is the fact that immunisation helps not only to reduce illnesses, but also disabilities which place economic burden on government and the society,”

The Ikeduru-born medical doctor and consultant, therefore, charged the leadership of town unions in Ikeduru, including churches and faith-based organisations, to compliment the government’s efforts by helping in the dissemination of information on health programmes.

It will be recalled that the Imo First Lady,  Barr  Uzodinma had a week ago in Owerri, officially launched a statewide awareness campaign which is targeted at promoting immunization against diseases such measles, rubella, tuberculosis (TB), and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as

part of the First Lady’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of women and children in the state.
