2023 Polls: Imo NURTW Partners FRSC For Smooth Elections

For a successful and smooth conveying of election materials and officers to various polling units in Imo State,the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State chapter, has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state.
     Speaking at the first year meeting of Imo NURTW at it’s office in Owerri, yesterday, which had in attendance the FRSC and the Union’s Chairmen in the 27 LGAs of the state, the State Chairman of the Union, Hon. Samuel Udeh(Ezeumuokorobia) noted that the driver’s license is the highest qualification for every driver, adding that whosever wants to ply the road as a communist must make sure he or she posseses a driver’s license.
    Udeh urged drivers to endeavour they drive with their driver’s license, avoid drinking when driving, have good relationship with passengers and security agents as they carryout their driving business, and not to forget putting their vehicles in proper shape.
     While advising drivers to corporate well with the FRSC to enable the election activities go smoothly, Udeh frowned at the cashless policy which he said is bitting hard on the people and has affected drivers especially in renewing of their drivers’ license, pleading with the FRSC to be patient with some of them who are yet to renew their license at this critical period.
       In his remark the deputy Corps Commander Head of Operations, Oliver Ukachukwu said that their presence at the NURTW meeting was to screen drivers to find out if they are qualified to operate on election day and certify the fitness of their vehicles  to be moved that day.Some drivers were screened and their vehicles certified by the Corps.
