Imo Public Safety Moves To Promote Welfare Of Special Citizens

Imo State government has restated its determination to accord all special citizens in the state a sense of belonging in the scheme of things.

The Special Adviser (Public Safety) to governor Hope Uzodinma Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe    gave the reassurance while inaugurating a 31-member committee of the disabled individuals who would act as a taskforce for the promotion of the interest and welfare of their members as specified by the government.

Nzekwe a 2-time member of the State House of Assembly said that the committee would carryout its assignment in collaboration with the office of the special adviser to the governor on special citizens and that of the Public Safety.

Prince Nzekwe who is the patron of the Association of persons with disability in the state enjoined them to apply sanity, discipline and decency in the discharge of their assignment and to shun emotions, sentiment and unnecessary outbursts saying “n the course of doing your work, you will inevitably meet all forms character who might provoke you but you should exercise caution and restraint to give your job a human face”.

The Special Adviser reminded them that they were chosen on their individual merits and enjoined them to see themselves as government functionaries, assuring that their remunerations and official identity cards would soon be issued to them.

“Do not be dismayed by your disability but use it to serve God and for humanity”.

Responding, the Special Adviser on Special Citizens Dr. Samuelson Emehibe who spoke in tandem with the chairman of the Committee Chibueze Iwuchukwu commended Prince Nzekwe for his sustained magnanimity and generosity to special citizens in the state, pledging that they would prove that disability is indeed not inability.
