Imo Governor poised to promote Vocational, Technical education

It is no longer in dispute that the Rebuild Imo Administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha inherited a badly battered Education Sector from the immediate past administration, of which Technical and Vocational education are crucial aspects.
It is a general understanding that quality technical and vocational education is essential for building a self-sustainable economy. It is for this reason that the Rebuild Imo Government will prioritize vocational and technical education in order to tackle unemployment in the state.
The first step His Excellency, the Governor took in this regard was to appoint for the first time in the history of the state, a Special Adviser on Technical and Vocational Education, in the person of Hon. Oliver Enwerenem. This underscores how seriously this Government is taking the issue of technical and vocational education in the state.
Further to that, the Government has also developed a Technical Education Master plan. The main thrust of this Master plan is the resuscitation of technical education and skills acquisition which are precursors for industrialization. This will be achieved by revamping the four Technical Colleges in Ahiara, Orlu, Orsu and Owerri, hitherto neglected by the immediate past administration.
As soon as these Colleges are revamped and positioned to provide quality technical and vocational education to our children, then the State can boast of a skilled workforce ready to take the economy of the State to the next level.
That is why we call upon stakeholders to join hands with this progressive Rebuild Imo Government in order to achieve this arduous task of rebuilding the State.

Signed:
Professor (Noble Lady) Viola Adaku Onwuliri
Honourable Commissioner for Education
Ministry of Education
