APC Convention: Okorocha’s bid to disqualify Izunaso fails, again

The protracted battle between Imo State governor,Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha’s “Agburu”camp and the Imo Coalition, alias Allied Forces is now being fought in Abuja ahead of the party’s national convention, this weekend.
Reports indicates that Gov Okorocha has failed again in his spirited attempt to disqualify Sen. Osita Izunaso from running for the office of national organizing secretary of the party.
The governor who is the chairman sub-committee on appeal, according to party sources allegedly tried to leverage this position to disqualify the man whose camp accused of being responsible for the misfortune that befell it during the last congresses in IMO State.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that the plot crashed like a pack of cards because the committee which the Governor heads does not have legitimate power to embark on that task.
According to sources the task of screening and/or disqualification of aspirants is a job bestowed on the Convention Screening Committee headed by former Senate president ,Sen. Ken Nnamani but curiously the Imo governor tried using his committee to attempt to allegedly usurp that function with Sen Izunaso as the main reason for that move.
Unfortunately, this move raised eyebrows of the leaders of the party especially the convention leadership which moved swiftly to once again clarify the respective functions assigned the various committees and Sub–çommittees for the convention billed for this weekend.
With the puncturing of this plot against Senator Izunaso the coast it is learnt, is now clear for him to gun for the office which he has been holding since 2014.
