Reps: Uwakwem Answers Okigwe North call

All villagers, communities, political wards and local government areas in the Okigwe North federal constituency of Imo State were thrown into a festive mood over the weekend as a woman of substance and incumbent commissioner for health in the state, Dame Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Uwakwem responded positively to the people’s clarion call to vie for the federal house of representatives seat in the forthcoming general elections.

Dr. (Mrs.) Uwakwem’s public declaration for the lower house of the National Assembly seat last Saturday, coincided with massively attended medical outreach programme organized by the Angela Uwakwem’s Divine Mandate Organization at the Amaraku Central School, in the Isiala Mbano local government area.

Addressing the mammoth gathering of Isiala Mbano, Onuimo and Okigwe local government areas as well as indigenes of neighbouring Nwangele, Ikeduru and Ehime Mbano who converged at Amaraku for the free medical treatment provided by the Divine Mandate, Angela Uwakwem averred that accepting the challenge to represent Okigwe North federal constituency would afford her the opportunity of rendering greater service to people of the area.

Thanking the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for giving her the golden opportunity of serving the state in the capacities of special adviser (SA) to the governor on health matters and commissioner for health, Dame Angela Uwakwem who was until recently , the chief medical director of the famous Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri recalled that until the inception of the Governor, Okorocha rescue mission administration, Okigwe North and indeed, entire Okigwe zone was critically underdeveloped.

“My accepting Okigwe North federal constituency people’s clarion call and the challenge to represent my people at the National Assembly is not for self aggrandizement or personal enrichment. My previous positions as FMC Chief medical director, special adviser on health matters and presently, commissioner for health have given me vast and enormous contacts. I am now at a vantage position to give Okigwe North quality and selfless representation at the federal level of government and thus, pull great fortunes to my people”, Dr. Mrs. Uwakwem stated. She thanked ail indigenes of the area for considering her worthy of their trust.

On the free medical outreach organized for people of Okigwe North, the Imo State commissioner for health said, “this exercise was borne out of genuine desire to improve on the health of our people, particularly, people at the grassroots level. It is a package for better healthcare delivery. Good health is better than riches because, health is wealth. It is only a healthy person that can enjoy the good things of life. This is why I will always work and pray for the good health of all Okigwe North people, to the glory of God”.

Speaking at the occasion, a prominent politician and community leader, Chief Tony Black Nduka described Dr. (Mrs.) Uwakwem as a highly credible candidate for the house of reps seta as according to him, Angela Uwakwem possesses all the attributes and the burning desire for quality representation.

Tony Black Nduka who was Isiala Mbano local government chairman, among other positions of honour, cautioned Okigwe North indigenes against sending any greedy politician to represent them at the house of reps.

The director-general of Divine Mandate Organization stated, ‘Angela Uwakwem is a woman of honour, a great assets to Okigwe North and Imo State. Let us send her out to the National Assembly with the sacred mission of recovering all that was lost by our people over the years”.

The Divine Mandate Organization’s medical outreach team was led by Dr. A.C Okeji as the chief medical officer.
