Reps: Iwunze, not saleable candidate -Okorocha

In his usual frankenness, the urban renewal project governor, Owelle Okorocha of Imo State has advised a federal house of representatives aspirant for Okigwe North Federal Constituency, Chief Simeon   Iwunze  to drop his plans to seek the people’s mandate for the seat as according to the governor, Iwunze is not a saleable product and could never secure enough votes from the people.

The implication of Governor Okorocha’s fatherly advice is that Chief Simeon Iwunze, if allowed to bear the ruling Ail Progressives Congress (ARC) flag as a candidate, would spoil the party’s chances of winning the 2019 Okigwe North house of reps seat.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha who drew the wisdom and courage to advise Chief Iwunze from his (Okorocha’s) wealth of political experience, expressed the view that selecting or electing a political party’s candidates for general elections should not be based on sentiments as it is a matter of presenting most credible and saleable candidates.

The Imo State Chief executive who bared his mind at a meeting with Isiala Mbano stakeholders at the government house. Owerri recently, charged all political office holders to be selfless and conscious of the yearnings of the masses in discharging their duties.

However, political observers and public opinion analysts are of the opinion that the pace-setter governor’s advice to Simeon Iwunze on the Okigwe North federal constituency election and political office holders currently in service was quite apt and a comment in good faith, coming from a caring leader.

Meanwhile, some concerned citizens of Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo State had earlier, via a newspaper publication, asked Chief Simeon Iwunze who is presently, special assistant (SA) to Governor Okorocha on projects monitoring and hitherto, two-time local government chairman of Isiala Mbano; ‘ two-time member representing Isiala Mbano in the Imo State House of Assembly and special adviser, mayoral affairs (Okigwe zone) to render an account of his over 16 years in office as political office holder.
