Remembrance Tribute

In loving memory of John Okonkwo Egbejimba, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and faithful servant of God, whose remarkable life continues to inspire us even one year after his passing.

Born in Umuhu Okabia, Nigeria, John lived a life defined by purpose, discipline, and unwavering faith. From humble beginnings, he pursued excellence in education, studying across Nigeria, at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone, and later at the School of Military Surveys in Berkshire, England. His dedication and intellect led him to a distinguished career in public service, where he rose to the esteemed position of Deputy Surveyor General of Imo State, Nigeria.

A survivor of the Biafran War, John embodied resilience, courage, and perseverance. He built a life anchored in integrity, service, and deep Christian values. As a Knight of St. Mulumba (4th Degree) and a Papal Medalist, he was widely respected for his faith, generosity, mentorship, and quiet but powerful leadership.

Beyond his achievements, John’s greatest legacy is his family. Alongside his beloved wife, AG Egbejimba, he nurtured a family grounded in faith, education, unity, and love. Today, that legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family across the United States, Nigeria, and beyond.

He is lovingly remembered by:
Jerry, Stella, Somuto, Lotanna, Chubie, Azuka, Serey, Ihuoma Nnanabu, Lilian Egbejimba, Julia, Ijeoma, K.C., Ramya, Amara, Nikky, Ike Okoro, Annie and Quincy John, Emeka, TJ, Jordan Egbejimba, Uchenna, Nneka, Beverley, Joseph, Rio, Jessica, John Egbejimba, Josiah, Oby, Kamsi, Jed, Jody Igwe, and many cherished relatives and friends.

One year later, we do not simply mourn his absence – we celebrate a life well lived. His wisdom continues to guide us. His faith continues to inspire us. His love continues to bind us together.

Though he is no longer physically with us, we take comfort in knowing that he now rests in the presence of the Lord, reunited with his beloved AG, interceding for us and watching over the family he so dearly loved.

We remember. We honor. We carry his legacy forward.

Forever in our hearts.
May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.
