In a new turn of event, the Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders in the Southeast have unanimously disowned Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah and Udeh Okoye for creating political tension in the zone over selfish interest.
In a stakeholders meeting convened by the National Vice Chairman of PDP, (Southeast), Hon Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, the leaders expressed worry over what they described as “overbearing attitude” of Peter Mbah to foist one of his stooges as National Secretary of PDP.
The meeting which had in attendance, former Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, National Secretary of PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barr Okechukwu Osuoha, members of the Board of Trustees, State PDP Chairmen from Southeast zone, members of Southeast Zonal Working Committee, leaders and critical stakeholders from the geopolitical zone.
Speaking, the convener and National Vice Chairman (Southeast), Hon Egwu said that the meeting became necessary to correct negative impressions against the party, and accused Governor Mbah of obviously working to destabilize the party in the zone prior to his rumoured defection to All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, party members should not take Governor Mbah seriously and his political shenanigans which he said, remains an albatross to his polical survival as a first time Governor, adding that Senator Anyanwu by way of the Supreme Court judgement is the authentic National Secretary of the party having being elected in a convention.
He further decried the behaviors of some former party members in the zone to undermine PDP, saying that such unguided character led to their expulsion which was later affirmed by the court.
He urged party faithful in the zone not to be deterred by the political “childishness” of a supposed only PDP Governor in the Southeast, expressing optimism that since the party was undergoing a stabilizing process, the ruling APC would soon be shown the way out.
