Residents of Umuerim Nekede; community  and students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede have cried out to the Imo State Government to help evacuate the mounting refuse along Nekede-Ihiagwa Road in order to save the community from likely

outbreak of deadly diseases.

The huge refuse dump which has been  mounting along Nekede-Ihiagwa Road between polytechnic gate and the secondary school, is not only an eyesore, but equally constitute serious environmental, health hazard to people around the area including students.

There are speculations that the situation may spark protest from the students who make up a chunk of population of the area.

Residents have also expressed shock at what they described as  inaction on the part of the authorities of Owerri West Local Government Area despite the health hazards which the stinking refuse constitutes to the health of residents.

The residents expressed fear that outbreak of contagious diseases is imminent if the authorities of the state and Owerri West LGA including ENTRACO and waste management company fail to act fast.

Some residents of the area who craved anonymity hinted that the refuse has kept mounting for some time now, raising questions as to why the Owerri West local government chairman has not taken action up till now.

They therefore made a passionate appeal to Governor Hope Uzodinma to come to their rescue as the situation has become a threat to their health.
