Hon. Nwachukwu Ambrose Chinedum (Chiaka Onye Onye 1), the Executive Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, has held an empowerment program for farmers in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA Area, to boost food Production.
The Agricultural employment Provides farmers with special breed yam seedlings, cassava stems, and maize seeds to enhance food production,also farm materials aimed at supporting local farmers and improve their livelihood.
Hon. Nwachukwu explained that the initiative was to align with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma’s effort and good works in the state, also to demonstrate the local government’s commitment to agricultural development and support to the communities.
The Executive Chairman revealed that there will be a second phase of farmers empowerment and encouraged everyone to embrace farming to boost food production and reduce social vices.
He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and assist the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise at these level and promised transparent utilization of resources allocated to Ezinihitte by the State government.
He used the opportunity to highlight his administration’s
achievements, which included renovation of the Legislative building and Customary Court.
The Council boss emphasised that farming and community development reflects his commitment to improving the lives of people of Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Speaking,the Ezinihitte LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Mark Adindu, highlighted the benefits of the special species of cassava stems, noting that they have low water content (20%), making them more suitable for processing and storage.
He said it also contains iron dye and nutrients, which enhance their attractiveness to professional farmers.
The specie he maintained will be widely adopted as the local government aims at promoting their cultivation among farmers in the area.
He emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge within the communities for their survival and development.
The Head of Department of Agriculture in Ezinihitte LGA Council, Mr. Gabriel Unanka, stated that the agricultural empowerment goals is to boost agriculture in the LGA through the program initiated by the Executive Chairman.
He hinted that there is already plan to hold a competition among farmers, with top producers representing Ezinihitte LGA in Owerri.
The HOD, Agriculture, commended the Executive Chairman for running Inclusive leadership and for fostering synergy amongst the workers and aligning with the state government’s vision.
He also advised farmers to carefully plant the provided farming materials for a bountiful harvest.
The agricultural empowerment program was well-attended, featuring stakeholders, leaders and representatives from various groups in Ezinihitte, officials from different departments within the council and
workers, of the Ezinihitte Local Government the Council.
This diverse participation highlights the importance of the program i and the council’s commitment to the development of the communities through agriculture.
Mr. Osuagwu Raphael, a farmer and teacher, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman on behalf of the beneficiaries, describing the agricultural empowerment program as, timely and relevant.
“A round peg in a round hole” suggests that the initiative perfectly meets the needs of the farmers. Mr. Osuagwu’s words convey the beneficiaries’ appreciation for the Chairman’s kindness and support.
This gesture demonstrates the positive impact of the program on the communities and the Chairman’s commitment to their welfare.
