Imo NURTW disowns members allegedly involved in kidnapping

The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State has disowned some of its members  alleged to be kidnap and armed robbery kingpins recently rounded up by security agencies for masterminding many kidnap cases in the state.
The State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Izuchukwu Okebaram, who, distanced the body from the heinous activities of the alleged criminal suspects in Owerri, yesterday, during a press briefing stated that the union condemns in the strongest terms possible crime and criminality in any shape or form adding that the union would  never condone Criminal activities among it’s members.
The State Chairman who expressed deep shock over the development, however, expressed satisfaction that the long arm of the law did catch up with the criminal elements engaged in illicit business.
According to him those involved in kidnapping are Ikenna Nwosu, ( Eze Ego),  Chidi Anya (Senator) and Vitus Ibeabuchi (bebeto) noting that they were alleged to have kidnapped and murdered an APC chieftain, Amos Akano adding that the union has resolved to give security agencies all the necessary support they need in  their investigation.
He also used the occasion to warn other members of the union in the state against involving themselves in crime and criminality as the union would not hesitate to expose, arrest and handover any member indulging in such.
The state NURTW boss who said he has been receiving complaints from members of the Union in Mgbidi where the trio worked alleging interference in union  activities, called on those doing so to stop fanning the embers of crisis as the union would not hesitate to use every legitimate means to defend its rights.
Comrade Okebaram   showered praises on Gov Rochas Okorocha over his administration’s huge investments in  security which he argued has gone a long way in giving security of life and property in the state a new face.
He stressed that   with the governor’s unrelenting effort in funding security coupled with the readiness of security agencies to fight crime and criminality head-on in the state the days of criminals in the state have been numbered even as he called on the governor and security agencies not to rest on their oars until crime is reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
