Reps: I’ll sponsor quality bills -Akwara

An Ngor-Okpala born legal practitioner, Sir Patrice Eberechukwu Akwara, says, his interest in vying for the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives, was borne out of his desire to contribute in making legislation that will add value to the lives of his constituents, and Nigerians in general.

Sir, Akwara, an astute public administrator and security strategist, who is aspiring for the position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, POP, in an interview with a section of the press, yesterday, in Owerri, said, apart from giving his constituents a strong voice and quality representation at the green chambers, he will attract government presence to the area in the areas of infrastructure and projects.

According to him, his priority would be to sponsor legislation aims at empowering Nigerians through education, skills acquisition that will encourage entrepreneurship and self-reliance, including supporting agriculture.

He went on to highlight his legislative agenda to include “To encourage Learning and academic excellence among the youths through scholarship while promoting sports and skill acquisition among the youths; proper use of skills and expertise in the process of law-making by sponsoring legislation that enhances the standard of living of the citizens”.

Others include: Sponsoring bills that will make it mandatory for government to support rural subsistent farmers by creating Agricultural extension offices in all local government areas, designate special centres as trade free zones within communities, compel government to create shipping ports across major water ways, as well as, empowering the people by encouraging and supporting them set up small and medium scale businesses.

He equally argued that if given the mandate, he would strengthen the bond of relationship between his constituents and communities across the constituency.

The youthful aspirant, who was the first president, Obiri Ngor-Okpala, Abuja and Vice president Ike Ngor-Okpala, Abuja, maintained that with the experience and exposure he had acquired over the years in administration and human capital development, he is the right man for the job.
