Imo guber: Diaspora group flays Okorocha’s attack on Madumere

Worried by the ongoing despotic tendencies by Gov.Rochas Okorocha in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, following the rift between the state governor and his deputy,Prince Eze Madumere, the Diaspora Owerri Zone, 2019,a socio-political interest group of people of Owerri zone in the United States of America, has condemned in strong terms, the undemocratic attitude of the governor towards the deputy governor,Madumere.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Nigeria Newspoint on Tuesday,National chairman of the socio-political organisation, chief Richmond Okoro said that,it amounts to in civilization and sheer greed for Gov.Okorocha to sack all the serving Rescue Mission Government functionaries from Mbaitoli LGA,prominent among whom are Mr.Steve Ozoemena(ex-TC chairman) and Mr. Martin Ohiri(former commissioner for youths/Sports Development) for no reason than to distablize efforts of the deputy governor and his Mbaitoli political structure,to pave the way for Gov.Okorocha’s self-endorsement and imposition of his son-in-law,Uche Nwosu on the Imo APC ahead of the party’s Governorship primary election soon.

Also, spoke against by the group,is the inordinate ambition of the governor to crown his son-in-law,who is chief of staff to his Rescue Mission Government in the state,an absolute successor to the seat of imo state governor after him in 2019.

The group’s leader, who expressed readiness by the Owerri indegenous-members of the diaspora association to resist all cost, the undemocratic posture of the governor, vowed to resist sole-dictatorship style of Gov.Okorocha, evenn n as it posited that, provided the governor was elected and given the mandate to govern the state by people of the state,he should not arrogate absolute powers to himself,in order to serve the people’s interest.

The group, however called on the governor to retrace his steps,as well as ensure that the charter of equity existing between Owerri,Okigwe and Orlu zones of the state is respected in the interest of a healthy democracy in Imo state.

The Owerri zone’s Frontline political organisation rejected the planned perpetuation and dominance of Orlu politicians in Imo power play, right from chief Achike Udenwa till the reign of Okorocha, which it  said, disqualifies Uche Nwosu as Orlu zone’s contender in the awaited 2019 governorship election in Imo state.
