Police recover 168 Guns, 2323 Ammunitions

In compliance with the directive of the Inspector General, IG, of Nigerian Police Force, Ibrahim Idris to all state commands of the force, on disarmament of prohibited firearms and illegal weapons, the Imo State command, on Tuesday, showcased arms and ammunitions it has recovered.
The showcased arms are: 168 guns, 99 Catridges, 2323 ammunitions, and 25 empty magazines.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Owerri.
Addressing newsmen, CP Ezike assured that the effort of the command at moping up illegal arms was in the best interest of Imolites and not to victimise anybody.
He revealed that since the commencement of the mop up exercise, the state has become safer, as there has been reduced number of reported cases of crimes. The commissioner expressed optimism that the  catchment of arms and ammunition recovered from wrong hands will no doubt reduce the number of arms and ammunition in circulation in the state and as well minimize thugery activities in the coming 2019 elections.
Also, two armed robbery/murder suspects were also paraded before newsmen
The suspects Chukwudi Ezeala ‘m’ aka ‘infinity’ 33yrs of age of Umuodu Umukabia in Ehime Mbano L.G.A. and Chizoba Ihedioha ‘m’ aka ‘Sunlight’ 25yrs of age of Mgbakam Okohia Obowo L.G.A. in company of two others now at large on 17/02/2018 robbed and murdered one Jude Emeka Onye ‘m’ who just returned from Spain.
The victim and others were drinking at a joint along Amainyi Obowo when the hoodlums struck and robbed them of their GSM handsets and other valuables and in the process killed the victim. One Highlander Jeep without registration number and one Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. WER729 LC suspected to have been stolen were recovered from them.
