2019 governorship: Fear grips Okorocha over APGA Chairman’s visit to Bishops in Imo …He’s turned state to Prison Yard-AJV Obinna

Indications have emerged that the Gov Rochas Okorocha may actually have been gripped by fear despite seeming bold face in the face of seeming increasing interest of the church in the governance and politics of the state. Even as the Catholic Archbishop AJV Obinna accuses the governoor of intimidating Citizens, turning state to a Prison Yard.

The governor for sometime now has been engrossed in a verbal altercation with the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese and just when he least expected it,  the leadership of the opposition APGA subtly increased the pressure with the recent visit of it’s national Chairman to some Bishops in the state.

According to sources close to government quarters the these developments have seriously unsettled the governor who knows exactly the enormous Influence the church, especially the Catholic wields in Imo state.

The governor who rode on the back of same influence to power in 2011 is said to be seriously concerned that he may also be at the receiving end, come 2019 poll.

But, in order not to show his frustration and growing fear the governor has been pretending, putting up a bold face and challenging Archbishop Obinna ostensibly to hide his deep seated fears.

Only a few days ago the Catholic cleric again bombarded Gov Okorocha when accused the governor of turning the state into a prison yard where citizens are afraid to speak up for fear of intimidation and harassment.

The governor responded through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo challenging him to proof his allegation or, apologize to him for maligning him.

But, while this was going on another dimension was added to the whole episode last week when the APGA leadership paid courtesy call on some bishops in the state.

Although details of the meetings were not made public observers believed they were not unconnected with the 2019 elections.

The leadership had visited the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Bishop Ukwuoma with sources revealing the governor was rattled by the move.

At the moment the governor it was reliably gathered is tensed up and seriously worried by the latest turn of events which he fears might be forewarning of a looming catastrophe.
