Displeased with the level of infrastructural deterioration in Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State, a vibrant female aspirant for Ihitte-Uboma State Constituency, Comrade Blessing Ngozi Onwumere, has promised to bring development and prosperity down to her people if elected as their representative at the State House of Assembly come 2023.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday at the PDP Secretariat, Owerri, Onwumere decried the underdevelopment of Ihitte-Uboma owing to bad roads, electricity blackout, among other unpleasant conditions experienced by the people of the constituency, saying her people deserve better representation which she said she is prepared to render to them.

Onwumere who is the Executive Director of Savannah Africa, affirmed her readiness to change the ugly narrative of infrastructure and leadership in Ihitte-Uboma, wipe tears off the eyes of her people through her creative and innovative capacity, moving strong motions at the floor of the House that would attract urgent attention to her Constituency, adding that young people like herself are agents of positive change and solutions at least to their local problems.

“In Ihitte-Uboma today we have bad roads, no electricity and the people are crying over these bad conditions. It is true that it is not the primary duty of a legislator to build roads, hospitals and some other essential infrastructures, but it is sure the duty of a legislator to ensure these good facilities get to his or her people by moving good and persuasive motions and endeavouring the motions are passed for a better living condition of his/her people”.
“I believe that young people are quite innovative and creative in proffering solutions to the needs of the society and I am young, vibrant, intelligent and creative, with the capacity to bring to my locality the dividends of democracy”. She said.

The first female President of National Association of Imo State Students, University of Abuja, further disclosed her intention to continue her humanitarian work, empower women and children, noting that women and children empowerment are key that cannot be overemphasized because according to her, a woman who is empowered is a great asset to her generation, also a child empowered with education is a blessing to her people as education tends to bring progress to a society.

Onwumere assured the people of Ihitte-Uboma of a better change through PDP, not the change of APC government that has turned things upside down, inflicted the people with hardship and sorrow, but a positive kind of change that would address the issues of underdevelopment in the council, strongly believing that with the support of her people she would emerge victorious in the upcoming election, to bring to Ihitte-Uboma a new phase of infrastructural development and prosperity.
