Why We Passed Vote of Confidence on Gov, Speaker-INPGG

A non governmental organization, Imo Network for Peace and Good Governance, (INPGG,)has explained the reasons behind the unanimous decision to passed vote of confidence on Governor’Hope Uzodinma and the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh.

The State Coordinator of the group, Comr. Ikedi Amankwe, while speaking to newsmen who accosted him at Concord hotel, Owerri, penultimate Thursday, during the quarterly meeting of the group, said IMPGG is an independent entity whose only interest is to promote peace and good governance not only in Imo State but in Nigeria.

Comr Ikedi explained that his group took thorough assessment of the recent development projects of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma, especially on road construction, and conclude that he has done very well and should be encouraged both as a group and as an individual, hence the unanimous vote of confidence on the governor.

He also explained that IMPGG also took a holistic study of Mr Speaker’s performance in about four months of his assumption of office as the leaders of IMHA and could not have done anything less other than to pass a vote of confidence on him for doing so well.

He said, “it became obvious that beyond his personal achievements as a lawmaker, he has maintained smooth working relationship with other arms of government, especially the executive arm..

According to him, though the group has never made any contact with Mr. Speaker, but that independent investigation reveals that Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh’s style of leadership has not only stabilized IMHA but also helped to support the administration of Gov. Hope Uzodinmma which also translated to infrastructural development being witnessed in Imo today.

Also, the secretary of the group, Dr. Paul Nwachukwu who was flanked by the state coordinator, said the group is in the business of changing obvious wrong perceptions prevalent among the people. Such changed he said, the group tried to achieve through advocacy, seminars and workshops.

He said one of such wrong impression is the believe by majority of the people that States House of Assembly must also engage the Executive in a battle to make them perform.
Dr Nwachukwu further explained that cordial relationship is necessary for a government to thrive hence peace is a major factor for success.
He said it is the cordial relationship caused by the governor and the Speaker that has stabilized and help to move the government forward.
