Bad Governance: Samdaddy Decries State Of Bad Roads In South East …Calls For Urgent Intervention

The ex-Senator for Owerri Zone, Imo State, Sen. Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Samdady) has lamented over the deplorable condition of roads in the South East geo-political zone, calling on the Federal Government to expedite action towards rescuing the situation before the rainy season.

Sen. Anyanwu, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the state expressed annoyance how the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government deliberately abandoned the zone in all its programmes, and appealed to relevant stakeholders to intervene.

According to him, contractors handling the only awarded roads, Enugu-Awka-Onitsha and Enugu-Okigwe-Umuahia-Aba axis have since absconded from work.

He wondered how people within the areas could overcome the 2021 rainy season.

The former Senator therefore reminded the Federal Government the role of the South East in the development of the country, describing the treatment meted out on the people of the zone as despicable, uncalled for and uncharitable.

In his words,“where on earth will a government treat her people like second class citizens? It is painful that the people of the South East, after playing major role in the growth of the country, will only receive in return, bad roads, unemployment, insecurity and clannish gang up”

He queried why the people of the zone should be treated as second class citizens, when their counterparts in other zones receive the best treatment from the government.

Sen. Anyanwu, an erstwhile Senate Committee Chairman on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions in the Red Chambers  described the treatment against the people of South East as deliberate ploy to force them to beg due to their firm believe and support for the Peoples Democratic People, PDP.
