Mr Ojukwu, Uneze and some other aspirants for various other positions,Nigeria Newspoint can recall were last week purportedly disqualified in controversial circumstances through a letter written by one Gbemiga Bamidele, Senior Assistant National Secretary of the union.
But, no sooner had the letter, alleged to have been written after huge monetary inducement from Imo State government had been made public than protests erupted in the state leading to the discovery that the legally and constitutionally mandated authority never approve such letter.
The deluge of petitions that had flooded the national secretariat of NUJ after this discovery expectedly had compelled the NUJ executive to launch investigations which uncovered  alleged dirty underhand ,filthy lucre deals between some corrupt officials in Owerri and Abuja.
Following this shocking finding the NUJ suspended the fake clearance issued to some aspirants to various positions and ultimately clearing those unjustly and unfairly disqualified by the Mr Bamidele authored letter.
By this new twist, Mr Ojukwu widely tipped to win the chairmanship election of the council is back on track and focused on winning the seat based on the massive support of his professional colleagues who are resolutely determined to change perennial ugly narrative of the council in Imo state.
In a related development, the National leadership of the union,it was authoritatively learnt has expressed disappointment with the inability of the Mr Innocent Igwe outgoing executive to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and peaceful election.
It was further gathered that the national leadership which openly lambasted the Igwe exco over its shoddy handling of the process however assured members of the union that their expectation of a free, credible and peaceful election would be met, soonest.
