NUJ chairmanship candidate Ojukwu, visits chapels in Imo …Promise improved welfare for journalists

The Imo State council of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) will soon wear a new look and boast of rebranded journalists to shore up the corporate image of the union in order to serve the society, well. This formed the highpoint of Elder Lambert Ojukwu one of the candidates vying for NUJ chairmanship is on familiarization tour of all the chapels in the state.
Elder Ojukwu, the Editor-in-chief of Newspoint in one of his recent visit to the information chapel in Owerri, stated that his purpose of seeking to emerge as the union chairman is to give journalists their befitting positions in the society, so that there would be a total turn around in the socio-economic and political development of the state and nation at large.
He explained that it is because journalists are poorly treated in the society that make the society to look the way it is today, especially in Imo State where there is absolute lack of welfare package for this noble profession, where as is the fourth estate of the realm, stating that in every situation in the society, there is always need for journalists to dissimilate information for societal welfare.
The leading NUJ chairmanship who is a seasoned journalist that has acquired many years of field experience and has risen to the position of the Editor-In-Chief of Nigeria Newspoint Newspaper said that he will explore his years of experience to ensure that his colleagues are given the basic resources to improve on their profession gentlemen of the fourth estate of the realm both technically and otherwise.
He maintained that within the six months of his assumption of office, he will restore the glory of the press centre in Owerri, to international standard required for the full operation of journalists in any given society, adding that the rebranded centre contain all facilities to enhance activities of journalists in the state and bring about improved reportage.
Elder Ojukwu  advised journalists to always appear neatly not minding their circumstances because they are seen as the mirror of the society which people look upto redress  as role models all time, noting that they needed to be equipped for the society to be better.
