APC Congress: Appeal panel okays Imo Ward, LG elections …Rejects Okorocha’s petition

The APC ward congress Appeal Committee which was the last hope of the embattled Imo State Governor,Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha and his Rescue Mission political family has in a rather dramatic scenario driven the final nail into the political coffin of the camp.
The panel which sealed the hope of the governor who had insisted that the Ward congress never held in the state,in its report submitted to Chief John Oyegun,the party’s national chairman of APC noted that contrary to government’s claim; the ward congress actually held in the 305 wards of the state on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
According to the committee which had Senator Abubakar Tutare, Hajia Hassana Abdullahi and Mr Ikenna Uzoka as Chairman, Secretary and member respectively its findings and conclusions were based on petitions and independent verifications carried out by the team.
The panel submitted in its six point report that from available evidences and facts on ground that the congress actually held.
It noted that the congress committee whose duty it was to conduct the congress (elections)affirmed that the elections took place, even as it added that both the state chairman and deputy state chairman,Chief Hilary Ekeh and Hon Ugochukwu Nzekwe also corroborated the stand of the committee that election held.
Similarly, the committee said the those who tendered petitions are not the right people who should have petitioned the committee having not purchased forms to contest nor contested the election.It
Stressed that those who should have petitioned, are candidates who contested the election.
About video evidence the team dismissed the governor’s video evidence which it argued was an incident that took place in a private residence which was not a congress venue even as it added that there were also video evidence received from the various ward election committees showing ward congresses being conducted in the state.
Consequently, the committee concluded its report stating that ward congress of May 5, 2018 were duly conducted and held in the 305 wards of the state and APC ward officers duly elected.
