Veterans okay Ojukwu for Imo NUJ chairmanship

In its determined effort to uplift the Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), so as to compare effectively with its counterparts in Anambra, Enugu, Rivers and Lagos State, the state chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists has thrown its weight behind elder Lambert Ojukwu, in his quest to become the next state chairman of NUJ.

Rising from an interactive session presided over by its secretary, Mr. Dan Jacobs, the Veteran journalists counseled the practicing journalists in the state on the imperative of enthroning effective and qualitative NUJ leadership in the state, by electing Elder Ojukwu as the chairman in the forthcoming council elections due between March and April.

According to the Veterans, the prevailing political realities dictate that the NUJ should have a preponderance of practicing journalists, in the private sector in its leadership.

The Veterans cautioned the journalists against recycling and perpetuating some individuals, when new hands capable of breathing fresh air into the Imo NUJ, for better performance and relevance to the yearnings of present-day society, abound.
